Skerries Harps 1-13 Ballyboden St Endas 1-9

After a tough last match against Kilmacud Crokes in the group stages, the Harps lads were drawn an away fixture against Ballyboden St Endas for the quarterfinal knockout stages of the Minor A Championship. Conditions were mixed, with a strong wind and dark clouds overhead at throw in, and the first quarter saw the Skerries Harps team , definite underdogs on paper, play with an intensity that was missing during the group stages, to score 4 points in quick succession, with Ballyboden registering a couple of wides, but keeping in touch, the scoreboard registered just how tight a game it was, at 0-5 to 0-3 as half time approached. A strong passage of play from the Harps saw Ronan Mulcahy rattle the back of the net, leaving the half time score 1-6 to 0-3. The second half throw in saw Boden win the ball and pressurise the Harps defence picking up points, with the Harps half back line working hard to deliver the ball to the forward line who picked up 2 points..as the wind died down, Ballyboden snuck a goal and a couple of points to narrow the gap to a single point. The water break was called, giving the team time to regroup , with all to play for in the final quarter. The Harps team and sideline showed great composure under pressure, keeping the scoreboard ticking over with some fine points from play. After a tense last 15 mins, the final whistle sounded, result going Harps way after a strong team performance.
