Our U13 Boys Football & Hurling team hit the road early last Saturday morning for an overnight team building trip to Cork! 29 Players and 9 mentors met at 8:30am, full of anticipation and excitement for what lay ahead!
First stop of the trip was a hurling fixture vs Watergrasshill Hurling Club . The weather was wild but the lads enjoyed a great game and huge thanks to the hosts at Watergrasshill for looking after everyone so well and ensuring the lads were fed and replenished after the game
Next stop was Fota Island Adventure, where the 29 lads were faced with a series of challenges as part of a 3 hour team building activity - some great skills learned most importantly about how to pull together to achieve a target ! Its safe to say that it was a mixed bag of fun and adversity over the course of the afternoon!
After a few snatched hours of sleep, it was out to Aghada GAA on Sunday morning for a couple of Football games - and the Irish weather in typical fashion did a 360 and the sun was beaming down on the pitch as the lads enjoyed a good spirited battle. The pitch location was fantastic too, which helped boost the spirits of the exhausted group, not least the mentors! The group were again well looked after by our hosts Aghada and we hope to welcome both Cork teams back to Skerries in the future!
After some more refreshments it was into the cars for the long trip home - safe to say most of the boys slept for the journey - and the group arrived back to enjoy pizza and a few games of pool before heading home to their own beds for some well earned rest!
Thanks to the team mentors for organising a great trip for the lads and ensuring that the team spirit builds with this great and committed group of young players!
Thanks to Gerry Connolly for capturing great images and memories of a weekend well spent! Full album can be viewed on Flickr - 2010 Boys Cork Trip 2023 | Flickr
