Skerries Harps Club Notes 01.10.2021

Adult team news

Skerries Harps draw with reigning champions Ballymun Kickhams in Saturday evening's Go-Ahead Dublin SFC1 Group 3 Round 2 clash at Parnell Park.

Huge congrats to our talented Intermediate team who had a fine 1-17 to 2-7 win over Oliver Plunketts in what was the first win in this competition in ten years for the Club since the great day in 2011 when the firsts beat Cuala.

Well done to all and they now move into the concluding stages in fine style.

A good win for our Ladies Footballers last night in an important Championship match which sets them up nicely for their last group game following a fine team performance which resulted in a 2-12 to 2-6 win over Parnells. A close one in the first half but the important scores arrived after the break as a result of some fine team play all over the field which was on the night well deserved.

Below we see a happy ‘Becky’ receiving her fabulous award as Player of the Match from Pat Dwyer.

Credit to Pat Dwyer for the match report and pictures.

LGFA All-Star Nomination Huge congrats to Lyndsey Davey on her All-Star nomination. Read more here.

Juvenile news

The academy is back with over 200 very excited future footballers and hurlers descended on the club to kick off the weekend on a fabulous morning of fun and games.

The return of the Academy was a great success where huge credit must go to the many Parents, Coaches, and the terrific workload from Club members who all made this possible.

U16 Girl's Football Championship Update*

A massive well done to both teams in their Championship wins on Sunday.

*A* team 4-8 Na Fianna 1-4

*B* team 4-5 Lucan 2-1

Both teams are through to their Cup semi-finals. The A team topped their group as their unbeaten run continues & the B team came 2nd in their group.

All the girls should be very proud of what they have achieved so far. Best of luck one n all in the semi-finals.

Our U11 girls had a long awaited team day out in FlynnPark on the AquaLough last Sunday. We had a brilliant turnout of 39 girls and some mentors took part. A great morning and hopefully more to come! Well deserved after a very active season.

Our ladies' All Ireland poster competition was a huge success with over 250 entries. Classes and highly commended winners received certificates which Lyndsey presented as a thank you for the huge support from the children. Our role model also took questions and deliver some very important messages for the children. The winner Hannah Coakley received her signed jersey after the ladies' match on Wednesday. Well done again Hannah.
