John Clinton RIP

It is with profound sadness that the club has learned of the passing of our much respected and esteemed Club President, John Clinton RIP.

John has been a lifelong member of Skerries Harps GAA & Camogie Club, as a player, mentor, supporter and held the role of Club President for 30 years. John was a key member of the 1955 IFC winning team and was on the team beaten in the SFC semi-final of 1963 and like his son Colin, played well into his 40s for the Harps.

John played with Dublin in the NFL and was denied further honours at county level only because he was "too clean" - a gentleman on the pitch as well as off!

Alongside his close friends and fellow mentors, Joe Coleman RIP & Pat Rice RIP, dubbed the Three Wise Men, John was perhaps best known as part of the trio of mentors who brought the 1989 Dublin Minor Championship win to the Harps - a proud moment in the 115-year history of Skerries Harps.

John is fondly remembered by the members of that 1989 Minor winning team in particular, for his football knowledge, encouraging words, effort & endless support.

We will treasure the memories of John in later years on the sideline at home & away games supporting his son Colin & grandson Robbie as they donned the Harps jersey with pride.

A true Harps man, dedicated to the club, he will be deeply missed from our club community.

We extend our deepest condolences to John's Family - his sons Martin, Sean, Colin & Paul, his daughter Helena, sons & daughters in law, beloved 9 grandchildren, sister, brothers and the wider extended Clinton family.
