Club Notes 21st September

Results for the last week

Tuesday Junior Camogie defeated St Oliver Plunketts ER after extra-extra-time, 2-7 to 2-5, to progress to the Junior 2 Shield Final. Wednesday Senior Ladies Footballers hosted Ballinteer St Johns in the Div 2 League Cup, the away side prevailing on a scoreline of 4-11 to 3-7. Friday Minor Ladies Footballers lost to a strong St Finians/St Sylvesters amalgamation in the Div 2 Championship. Saturday & Sunday The Junior 'B' Hurling Championship Final was the only fixture to proceed as a result of Covid restrictions at the weekend.  Craobh Chiarain opened the scoring with a point inside the first 10 seconds of the game & in a further blow Harps lost wing back Iain Furlong to injury in the immediate aftermath. David Graham equalised inside the first 5 minutes from a '65' & this was quickly followed by a point from midfielder Cian Coleman. The next 4 points were shared between the sides before a goal in the 13th minute followed by a point gave Craobh Chiarain a 3 point cushion. Skerries responded with points from David Graham & Aidan Kehoe to reduce the gap to the minimum before Craobh Chiarain hit their 5th point of the game to lead by 2 points at the water break.  Harps started the 2nd quarter well & hit the first 2 points before Craobh Chiarain responded with a point of their own to regain the lead. Once again the sides shared the next 4 points with David Graham converting his 4th '65' of the game. Two late points from Aidan Kehoe & Jack Fitzpatrick saw Harps lead 0-12 to 1-8 at half time. As with the 1st half it was Craobh Chiarain who opened the scoring with a point from a '65' before David Graham took his tally to 0-5 from a free. A well worked goal from Matthew Dooley opened up a 4 point lead for Harps early in the 2nd half which was reduced to 3 points by the time the referee blew for the 2nd half water break. On the resumption of play Craobh Chiarain reduced the deficit to 2 points but Harps reeled off 4 unanswered scores from frees to push the lead out to 6 points inside the final 10 minutes. Craobh Chiarain responded with a point which was cancelled out by another Aidan Kehoe free before Robert Kenny scored Harps 2nd goal with just over 3 minutes remaining. From the puckout Craobh Chiarain went looking for a much needed goal & despite the initial effort being well saved by Mikey Joyce the rebound was finished to the Harps net. This was to be the final score of the game with the referee blowing the full time whistle shortly to leave Harps as winners on a score line of 2-19 to 2-13. The Cup was presented to Harps captain, Eoin Hickey, by former Dublin GAA Chairman Sean Shanley.
