Adult team news

Report from last week's game Senior ladies football team against Man O War.

Man O War 0-10 v Skerries 1-1

We were looking forward to the start of the league kicking off after our positive result the previous week against the same opposition.

Unfortunately we didn't get the win we were looking for.

On a very cold and extremely windy night the M O W handled the tricky conditionings better than we did. After a good first half performance against the wind we were happy enough and were very positive about turning the score around 0-8 v 0-0 with the wind on our side in the 2nd half.We had our chances in the 1st half but we didn't make the most of a good few scoring opportunities we created with fine passing and movement from the girls.

The 2nd half just didn't happen for the girls and nothing clicked.Just one of those things.Effort and commitment was there but whatever we tried it just didn't happen.

Highlight of the game was a well taken goal from Patricia Ferguson.Won the kickout from their GK and cheekly lobbed the ball over her into the net.Great awareness shown and quick thinking from Trish.Other score came from Megan Carroll.Well taken point .

Disappointed but not downhearted as this is a very talented group and have a lot to look forward too for the rest of the season.

The Minor Ladies A team had a well deserved win over a strong Thomas Davies side on Monday 11th April. The girls never gave up and battled to the very end. Final score 1-4 to 2-4.

Aoife Mc Afee 1-1

Leah Beggs 1-0

Mia Rice 0-1

Hannah Mc Ginnis 0-1

Cliona Mullarkey 0-1

The Minor Ladies B team lost to a very strong Craobh Chiaran team on Monday 11th April. Final score 1-4 to 4-9. This was the team's first loss of their league campaign and the score did not reflect the performance the girl put in.

Lily Tinkler 1-1

Keela Fehily 0-1

Aimee Maguire 0-1

Kim Rice 0-1

Hannah McGinnis Lines out at No.7 for the Dublin Minors

Best of luck to Hannah and the Dublin minors in their 2nd Championship match against Laois at 2pm on Easter Monday.

Juvenile Team News

Great team performance from u16 camogie v Clann na Gael on April 15th, 5-09 - 0-00

Our Easter Hurling and Camogie Mini Leagues returned last Tuesday under a dark sky that rained on the players at regular intervals. The boys and girls played on through the showers showing off their talents. Numbers increased day by day with the improvement in the weather and we even had some new players trying out the codes for the first time. Everyone seemed to have a great time while learning new skills or improving existing ones.

A big thank you to all of our players and also to our coaches who ensured such an enjoyable time was had by all.

We're delighted to have our traditional U8-U11 team fundraiser back up and running (solo!) this May Bank Holiday.

Happy Easter everyone! 🐣

Our U9 boys had great craic on a mini Easter egg hunt up at the ballast pit after training! Mentors were hoping they’d also find a few sliotars, but was all chocolate eggs

Have wonderful Easter everyone.

Other news

Pitch and club development

The club development committee held a meeting on April 17th to update on the work behind the scenes to secure facilities to match our growing club and community numbers in Skerries. It was a very open, honest, and at times emotive discussion to a very engaged and packed room of volunteers, mentors, local representatives, and community representatives. The group gave a very comprehensive update on all the avenues, side roads, and bureaucratic walls they've had to climb with unbelievable resilience and patience. There was great discussion and understanding of frustration with some new ideas and support coming through. More updates on this later.

ZINGO Numbers this week were 5 7 1 4 2 6 3

We had no jackpot winner but one Dividend winner Geraldine Healy. €550.

Why not opt for auto-renewal and ensure you never have to worry about missing a draw again.

Volunteers work behind the scenes

Absolutely amazing work down at the main pitch by a team of volunteers, supervised by our care taker Richie Reid, to prepare our pitch. 50 tons of clay currently being spread!

Pictured here and a huge thanks to Ger Dillon, Mark Kelly, Paul Walsh, Martin Kenny and Paul Donnelly. (‘Far from tractors some of these lads were reared’ … overheard on site !) But they are did a great job got the weather which was great for the work to be done.

Thanks to all mentors who sent in matcher reports, updates, and photos.
