A note from our Chairman as we start a new year

Dear Members,

It’s that time of year again to renew club membership and given the year we’ve had I wanted to reflect on what we’ve achieved as a club in 2020, in spite of all the restrictions.

Skerries Harps is an extremely active club and that is thanks to all our members and volunteers – here’s some of what we achieved in 2020:

  • We worked hard during restrictions to get back training, playing matches, and streamed live to allow members to enjoy. Thanks, and well done to all our Covid-19 officers who help us train and play safely.

  • We congratulate and are so proud of our players who lined up in two All-Ireland finals for Dublin – the U20’s and the Ladies Senior finals. We also had players who lined up for the Dublin Senior Camogie, Dublin Intermediate Camogie and the Dublin minor football. We continue to support and develop our players. We also had players who lined out for Westmeath and Longford.

  • We also had success in hurling with our Senior Hurlers winning the Junior B championship and many of our teams on the ladies and men’s sections reaching various knockout stages in Championship.

  • We ran two terms of our Harps Academy, both online and off with skills, fun games, challenges, and more keeping our youngest members active and meeting their friends.

  • We ran club and community fundraisers supporting our local businesses, local charities, and members' initiatives.

    • We launched our new online store and have a brand-new website to keep our members informed.

    • We supported local schools and assisted in delivery of PE classes and promotion of Gaelic Games through our GPO and club coach.

We ask for your continued support as a member of the Skerries Harps GAA club. Our part in return will be to continue to develop our club to support both our community, our club, and all our players.

We also ask, if possible given individual circumstance, if members could pay membership as early as possible so we can prepare to get back to full force. For those impacted but still wish to remain as members we are working with our partner Clubforce to offer instalment payments which we hope will be helpful this year.

This has been a challenging year but I think if we take anything from 2020 it's how much the activities, games, camps and overall activity of the clubs means to us all.

We welcome your feedback as a member of the club and look forward to us all getting back to what we love and in the way we love very soon.

Thanks, and keep safe.

Mise le meas
