Jane's House Fundraiser During May 2020 our Senior/Junior/Minor & U16 Ladies Football & Camogie teams ran a marathon (around Skerries) to raise funds for Jane's House , in memory of our much missed club member, Jane Dardis. Jane's House is part of Nyumbani Children's Orphan Aid , Kenya & was co-founded by Sr Mary Owen's, a Loreto nun who grew up a stone's throw from Skerries Harps. Nyumbani Village in Keyna has up to 1,000 children and 100 grandparents displaced by the Kenya Aids epidemic who live in small cottage units as families. The Village provides a stable home for the most vulnerable children where they can go to school, excel at sport, participate in music, draw, learn vocational trades and further re-education. Nyumbani Village changes lives for the better. Over €12,500 was raised by the Ladies teams with all monies going directly to Jane's House. The letter below from Nyumbani is an acknowledgement of the huge meaning this fundraiser has for the charity. The Dardis Family, David, Bernie & Emma, would like to thank all those who took part in this fundraiser and who so generously donated, for remembering Jane & supporting the fantastic work being done in her memory in Kenya.
